Kansas City Chiefs Make ‘Tight End’ Announcement Before 2025 NFL Draft

Just because they have won multiple Super Bowls in the past several years, it doesn’t mean that the Kansas City Chiefs don’t have needs this offseason — needs that they can address as well in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft , which is scheduled to kick off this Thursday night in Green Bay.

However, the tight end room isn’t exactly one that urgently requires a new face at the moment for the Chiefs, as they still have superstar Travis Kelce.

For many, Kelce is arguably the best tight end ever to play the game. For the Chiefs, there is no doubt that he’s the best TE in history.

“The NFL Draft gave us the best tight end to ever play the game. Who’s next? 🏹,” the Chiefs posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday morning.

The 25-year-old Kelce holds several NFL records, including most seasons in a row with at least 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end with seven. That is also the record for most 1,000-yard seasons by a tight end in the league.

That said, Kelce has not reached the 1,000-yard receiving plateau in either of the last two seasons. In 2024, he had 823 receiving yards with three touchdowns on 97 receptions and 133 targets through 16 games.

The Chiefs, who lost in last February’s Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, will pick 31st overall in the first round of the draft.

Kansas City also has a second-round (63rd overall) pick, a pair of third-rounders (No. 66 from the Tennessee Titans and No. 95) and a fourth-rounder (No. 133). Their last three picks are all in the seventh round (No. 226 from the Carolina Panthers, No. 251 and No. 257).
