Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes explains his new hairstyle: ‘Win or lose,’ it was happening

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – When the Kansas City Chiefs take the practice fields at training camp this summer, there will be a noticeably different look. And it won’t just be from the free agents and college players selected in the NFL Draft.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes will sport a newer hairstyle than Chiefs fans are accustomed to. Instead of his signature mohawk fade, Mahomes’ hair will be trimmed to more of a crew cut.

Why the change? Here’s what the quarterback had to say on Wednesday:

“I’ve wanted to do it for a while but it was kind of one of those superstitions, I kept winning the Super Bowl which is a good thing but I didn’t want to cut the hair while I was doing it. I told everybody during the season that win or lose, if we win three in a row or if we lose, I’m getting a haircut like that’s enough. I’m very excited. I’ve looked at some videos from last year and I can’t believe all you guys let me keep that nappy hair for so long, like I look way better now with the short hair, so I’ll be keeping this going forward.”

The Chiefs quarterback spoke on offseason work, his group of wide receivers and even his new haircut.
