RUMORS: Braves Would Be Perfect Landing Spot For Struggling $200 Million Shortstop

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly recently suggested Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa is one of the players most likely to be traded ahead of this season’s trade deadline. “Injury concerns-and a slow start to 2025-aside, Correa did hit .310 with a 4.3 WAR in just 86 games a year ago.

That’s superstar-level production, and he’s still only 30,” Kelly wrote. “It stands to reason that a contending team in need of a shortstop-or perhaps even a third baseman-would be interested in someone with an extended postseason resume.”

Braves Would Be Perfect Landing Spot For Struggling $200 Million Carlos Correa - Newsweek

If the Twins opt to trade him, where would be a good landing spot for the star? Potentially the best landing spot for Correa would be the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are in desperate need of a big move to boost their roster.

They’ve struggled out of the gate this season, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get better unless they actively try to make it better.

Shortstop Orlando Arcia has been a problem for the Braves again this season. Arcia slashed .218/.271/.354 with a 72 OPS+ last season, and he’s slashing even worse this year.

Atlanta has needed to move on from him for quite a while now, but it hasn’t been able to commit to the move.

With top prospect Nacho Alvarez Jr. seemingly not ready to take over as the everyday shortstop, the Braves need to swing a blockbuster trade for Correa. Correa has struggled this year, but he posted an OPS of .905 a year ago.

He could benefit tremendously from a change of scenery.

There’s a chance the Braves could get the Twins to pay down some of Correa’s contract in a potential deal, too.
