BREAKING: Dak Prescott accused of quitting on the Dallas Cowboys amid hamstring injury

Nothing new. Just the Dallas Cowboys making headlines for the wrong reasons.

In Week 9, the Cowboys lost 27-21 to the Atlanta Falcons. During the game, star receiver CeeDee Lamb was battling a shoulder injury and while quarterback Dak Prescott exited the game early due to a hamstring and hand injury.

Now coming off a three-game losing streak, the Cowboys will face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday.

While Lamb has been cleared to play in Week 10 (sprained AC joint), Prescott’s hamstring injury appears to be worse than expected. Today on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared that Prescott will “likely” be placed on the injured reserve list. If that does happen, the Cowboys will be without their QB for the next four games.

“It’s an extended period of time here,” Jones said on the radio show. “I wouldn’t dare make a prediction when it could be. We’ll see kind of how his rehab goes.”

Nothing is set in stone and Prescott’s rehab results have not been shared, but that didn’t stop former NFL receiver James Jones from calling it how he sees it. On today’s episode of “The Facility,” Jones ripped into Prescott for quitting on the Cowboys.

“Dak quit…It ain’t even funny though. My man quit on these dudes…It don’t take no four weeks for you to heal from no hamstring. You’re not Lamar Jackson, you’re not Jalen Hurts. You’re not running. Where are you running to?” Jones said.

In Week 5 of the 2020 season, Prescott suffered a pedal ankle fracture that put him out for the remainder of the season. Before that injury, Prescott would use his legs frequently. From 2016-2019, Prescott totaled 21 rushing touchdowns and 1,221 yards on the ground.

After the injury, from the 2021 season to now, Prescott has a total of 624 rushing yards and five rushing-TDS. So far this season, Prescott has only carried the ball 13 times for 54 yards.

“This is a hamstring for a quarterback who is not explosive at the quarterback spot…We heard him on the sideline with what he said. Dak is quitting on these boys. Is it off the bone or something? Because there is no way you’re telling me you’re out four weeks with no answers, no fight, no nothing for a hamstring. And you’re a quarterback. There ain’t no way.”

The sideline moment that Jones was calling into question happened during the fourth quarter. Cameras caught Prescott saying “We f—ing suck.” While most Cowboys fans agreed with Prescott’s statement, it still was not a good look for the franchise QB.

Even if Prescott’s injury is not that severe, the organization can’t take any risks after his big pay day in Week 1. If the season continues to trend downwards, it’s best to spare the starting signal caller.

Cooper Rush is expected to step up as QB1 for Week 10. The last time Rush took over for an extended period of time was in 2022. Rush went 4-1 as a starter, the only loss came from the Eagles.
