Breaking: Chiefs, Titans Involved in Possible NFL Blockbuster Trade

This week, the Kansas City Chiefs could trade for wide receiver Treylon Burks during the NFL Draft to bolster their pass-catching department. According to Bleacher Report, they believe the Tennessee Titans and Chiefs could exchange where the Titans send Burks for a fifth-round pick, which could make sense considering the wide receiver room for Kansas City. Originally selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Arkansas product has had one of the worst starts to his career, despite recording 33 receptions for 444 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Burks has been dealing with injuries for the majority of his sophomore campaign, and there was hope that after trading DeAndre Hopkins last year, he would increase his production.

It hasn’t been happening that way, so it’s possible the Titans could trade the former first-round bust to a new roster during the NFL Draft. The Titans hold the first-round selection this year with the assumption they will select a quarterback to take over Will Levis’ starting role. With that, this means it doesn’t secure a future for Burks, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The wide receiver could come in as a project for the Chiefs as they’re still figuring out Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy’s legal issues and could use Burks to provide some upside behind Marquise Brown.

However, the Chiefs aren’t the only team that may pursue him. There are plenty of rosters that could use the experiment, and these two teams make the most sense to give him a shot.

Breaking: Chiefs, Titans Involved in Possible NFL Blockbuster Treylon Burks Trade – Ravens, Panthers Could Intervene

Bolstering Jackson’s Pass Game

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens were hoping to get a capable third man receiver after trading for Diontae Johnson. However, it didn’t work out the way they wanted since he’s been more of a distraction than someone the team could depend on to give Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman help in the aerial attack. Lamar Jackson had to lean on tight ends Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews more often, as they should only be used in situational moments.

The Ravens had plenty of those, but they’re struggling to find a long-term weapon. The team is signing DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, but he’s only giving short-term relief as he’s looking to win a Super Bowl. It might be a win-win deal this upcoming 2025, but they still need a wideout with potential upside. The Ravens won’t lose anything if they trade for Burks, as he’s still on a rookie contract.

Rebuilding the Panthers

As for the Carolina Panthers, the team could use another wide receiver to bolster their unit. The team won’t make the playoffs, but it’s never a bad time to heighten the future of quarterback Bryce Young. He needs a ton of pass catchers to help him succeed, and guys like Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker might not be enough to have a winning record. While Adam Thielen is returning this upcoming season, there’s no guarantee the Panthers will keep him, as they are still rebuilding their new regime.

Burks might not dramatically boost this team’s chances, but it gives them a capable wideout that may turn into a homegrown talent with Legette and Coker.
