With three prospects in the top-15 in the MLB’s Top 100 prospects rankings, the Boston Red Sox appear to be in great shape for the future. But after a blistering start to the 2025 season at the Triple-A level, some Red Sox fans are calling for top outfield prospect Roman Anthony to be fast-tracked to the big leagues.
After an impressive Spring Training with the major league club where Anthony, MLB’s No. 2 prospect, hit for a .300 average and a .440 on-base percentage, the Red Sox ultimately opted to delay Anthony’s MLB debut, sending him to play at the Triple-A level with the Worcester Red Sox.
Since then, Anthony has done his very best to prove to the Red Sox organization that he belongs at the MLB level.
Coming into Thursday’s doubleheaders against the Rochester Red Wings, Anthony has hit for a .283 batting average and a .433 on-base percentage. The power has been there as well, with seven of his 15 hits on the year being extra-base hits.
If Red Sox fans needed any more proof that Anthony is ready for the major league call-up, they certainly got it in the first of their doubleheader on Thursday.
To lead off the game, Anthony would get the Red Sox started off on the right foot, hitting a solo home run off of Red Wings starter Andrew Alvarez.

Anthony would build on that in would cap off a seven-run top of the third inning for Worcester, hitting a grand slam to extend the lead to 8-0.

Roman Anthony is so ready for the big leagues you’re gonna have local Boston sports radio talking about how not ready he is

If I don’t see Roman Anthony at Fenway this weekend I’m boycotting

I don’t care what roster moves need to be made or losing a year of service time – Roman Anthony is ready and needs to be on this roster ASAP.

At just 20, one could argue that it could potentially be a bit early for Anthony to get the major league call-up. But thus far in his Minor League career, Anthony has simply continued to produce at every level.
One factor that may play a role in Anthony not getting the call right away is that he is admittedly playing through a nagging shoulder injury, which makes his play as of late even more impressive. But as soon as this injury is behind him, it will undoubtedly be tempting for the Red Sox to give Anthony his first chance in the big leagues.
