Travis Kelce Shares Head-Turning Take On NFL Equivalent Of Golf Grand Slam After Seeing Rory McIlroy Win Masters

Rory McIlroy’s win at the 2025 Masters Tournament last Sunday is still the talk of the town in the sports world, with even Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs in awe of what the Northern Irishman just accomplished.

Before this year’s edition of the Masters, McIlroy had not won a major in over 10 years. After winning the PGA Championship in 2014, McIlroy went on a long major drought that he only ended with his first-ever green jacket. And with his win over the weekend, McIlroy finally completed a career grand slam, which was only done by five other golfers before him, including Tiger Woods, of course.

Travis Kelce sounds off on what’s the NFL version of a golf career grand slam

During a recent episode of New Heights podcast, Kelce was asked by his brother, Jason, about what he thinks is the football equivalent of golf’s career slam.

“I mean, I don’t know. I’m biased. I would say something like winning back-to-back Super Bowls. I don’t know,” said the three-time Super Bowl champion.

The Masters had us debating what a Grand Slam in the NFL would be … and Trav’s answer might be a little biased 😅

Kelce and the Chiefs won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024 before barely missing a three-peat, having lost to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 last February.

Although both are played on grass, golf and football are clearly two completely different sports. Nevertheless, winning a major or a Super Bowl is indeed tough to accomplish in their respective fields.

For what it’s worth, there have been nine teams in the NFL who have won consecutive Super Bowls, including Kelce and the Chiefs, but no organization has yet to pull off a three-peat in the Super Bowl era.
