BREAKING: The Brewers have decided not to exercise Devin Williams’ 2025 option. He will continue with the team and is eligible for arbitration

The Milwaukee Brewers chose not to pick up closer Devin Williams’ $10.5 million option for 2025. However, the two-time NL reliever of the year will stay with the team and is eligible for arbitration for one more year.

In other news shared on Sunday, the Brewers decided to keep their $8 million option for right-hander Freddy Peralta and declined the option for catcher Eric Haase. Haase will also remain with the organization and is eligible for arbitration.

By not exercising the option on Williams, the 30-year-old will earn whatever amount an arbitrator decides, unless he and the team come to an agreement before the hearing.

Devin Williams reacts in the 9th inning

After missing the first half of the season due to stress fractures in his back, Williams had a record of 1-0 with a 1.25 ERA, 14 saves, and 38 strikeouts over 21 2/3 innings this year.

In the final game of the NL Wild Card Series against New York, he could not maintain a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning, giving up a three-run homer to Pete Alonso as part of a four-run rally.

Peralta, 28, finished the season with an 11-9 record, a 3.68 ERA, and 200 strikeouts in 173 2/3 innings.

Haase, who will turn 32 on December 18, had a batting average of .273 with a .304 on-base percentage, five home runs, and 14 RBIs in 30 games.
