Christian McCaffrey’s Wife Sends ‘Emotional’ Message on 49ers Star’s Jersey Retirement

Christian McCaffrey has already achieved so much in his eight-year career in the NFL. While he is coming off a forgettable campaign with the San Francisco 49ers that was cut short by a season-ending knee injury, there’s no denying that the two-time All-Pro running back remains one of the most important stars on the Niners’ roster.

Before McCaffrey made his mark in the pro level, the 28-year-old was a bona fide star for Stanford during his college playing days. Before that, McCaffrey first burst onto the scene as a player for Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

A native of Castle Rock, CO, McCaffrey, the Gatorade Player of the Year for 2012 and 2013, ended up setting multiple Colorado high school records as a teenager, including career touchdowns (141), career touchdown receptions (47), season all-purpose yards (3,032) and career all-purpose yards (8,845).

McCaffrey went back to his roots on Saturday for a very special event. The three-time Pro-Bowler received an esteemed honor from his high school as Valor retired his No. 5 jersey. From this point forward, no other Valor player can wear the No. 5 shirt.

McCaffrey’s historic feat drew a heartfelt message from his wife, Olivia Culpo.

“yesterday was emotional in the best way,” she wrote on Instagram. “Watching Christian’s high school jersey get retired was a powerful, full-circle moment — one that reminded me of all the grit, sacrifice, and discipline he’s poured into this game from the very beginning.

“I’ve seen you give every morsel of yourself to your craft — not for accolades, but because excellence matters to you. You’re the hardest worker I know, not just because of what you do on the field, but because of who you are: a selfless teammate and a relentless pursuer of growth.

“I love you so much and I I couldn’t be prouder of you, and I’m so thankful to see you honored in a way that reflects every bit of heart and integrity you carry. Here’s to honoring the past and to everything still ahead!!”

Culpo shared several photos from the event, including McCaffrey taking center stage to receive a special plaque. This is, without a doubt, an unforgettable moment in McCaffrey’s career, and his wife could not be more proud.

Also shown prominently in Culpo’s photos is her growing baby bump. The couple recently announced that they are expecting their first child, and while the former Miss Universe’s expected delivery date is currently unknown, it is clear that she is already far along in her pregnancy.

This only means that McCaffrey, who is now officially a Valor Christian High School legend, will have a lot of extra motivation next season as a first-time dad.
