How 1975 Red Sox Legend Praised Talented 2025 Boston Club

BOSTON — The Red Sox are a franchise based on history and connecting generations.

As the talented 2025 team took the field for the home opener at Fenway Park, Boston honored members of the 1975 American League championship team for the 50th anniversary. The club featured several impact stars, including Jim Rice, Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn, Dwight Evans and Bill Lee.

Evans still keeps tabs on the current squad and is hopeful for the 2025 Red Sox to find similar success.

“That’s what I hope these guys do because there’s some talent out there,” Evans said. “That these guys can come together as a team, as one unit. They’re capable of doing it. I’m looking forward to it. I was with these guys in spring training. They’re pretty special. I know they got off to a little rough start, but they’ve got some talent.”

Kristian Campbell stands out as a rookie talent just as players like Lynn did on the 1975 team. Evans likes what he sees from the Red Sox rookie and trusts his development.

“I think he’s just going one pitch at a time right now, one play at a time,” Evans added. “I don’t think he’s getting ahead of himself. He’s a really bright kid and a great athlete. I love what I’m seeing from him right now. Also, he’s got to know that they’re learning him, too. He’s going to have to adjust along the way, and he’s capable of doing that.”
