Congratulations to Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor on being named Silver Slugger finalists 👏 Will They Take Home the Honors?

Winners will be announced on November 12

Major League Baseball announced the finalists for the 2024 Silver Slugger Awards on Monday morning, and pair of Mets made the cut.

Francisco Lindor is a finalist at shortstop, along with Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz and Milwaukee’s Willy Adames, and Pete Alonso is a finalist at first base, along with Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper and Los Angeles’ Freddie Freeman.

At short, Lindor feels like a lock. His .844 OPS was the highest among all NL shortstops (Betts finished the season at .863, but he only played 64 games at short and was announced as a finalist as an outfielder), and his 33 home runs and 91 RBI helped propel the Mets to an NLCS appearance.

His 33 homers were the second-highest single-season total of his career, behind only his 38 homers in 2018, when he won one of his three career Silver Slugger awards.

Meanwhile, Alonso led all NL first basemen in home runs (34), but Harper’s .898 OPS and .525 slugging percentage were the highest among all players at his position, which probably makes him the favorite.

Alonso earned his fourth All-Star nod this season, but he’s never won a Silver Slugger, despite hitting 226 home runs since his debut in 2019, the most among all NL players.

Winners will be announced on Nov. 12. Here is the full list of NL finalists:
