BREAKING NEWS: 49ers’ Brock Purdy gets $239 million contract update on timeline for an extension decision

The 49ers Might Not Extend Brock Purdy's Contract this Offseason

Brock Purdy could be signing his name on the dotted line sooner rather than later.

The 49ers star quarterback has been involved in contract extension rumors all offseason, and the timeline is coming more into focus.

San Francisco GM John Lynch spoke at the league meetings this week about when a deal might happen.

Asked about getting it done before the team’s offseason training program, Lynch said, “I don’t think it’s too optimistic (to get it done by then. I think I understand why Brock wants that. We’d like that very much, so we’ve just got to find that right place for both sides, and I would love nothing more than for that to be the case.”

That’s good news for 49ers fans, who are likely tired of their star quarterback being involved in rumors.

The contract website Spotrac assesses Purdy’s market value at $239 million over four years, an average of $59.7 million per year.

That’d be nearly a record for annual average value, so the 49ers could likely push a deal over the line on their timeline if they threw in a few extra bucks to that already large pile of cash.
