Christian McCaffrey, Jauan Jennings and More Return to Practice Post-Bye Week

The San Francisco 49ers are back from the Bye week and welcomed a number of players from injury to their Week 10 bonus practice on Monday morning. Running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles tendonitis) and offensive lineman Jon Feliciano (knee), both on the Injured Reserve list, had their practice windows opened while wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) and kicker Jake Moody (right ankle) were reintroduced after extended time away.

Although the portion of practice open to media was brief, McCaffrey was seen running during warm-ups and high-fiving fellow running back Jordan Mason en route to the team huddle. The reigning AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year has yet to suit up in 2024 due to bilateral Achilles tendonitis, however, his recent ramp up is a step in the right direction.

Prior to breaking for the Bye, head coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned McCaffrey would spend the week simulating practice in Santa Clara, and if there were no setbacks, he would rejoin the team in time for the bonus practice. As you might expect, McCaffrey’s teammates were thrilled to working out alongside him once again.

“It’s such an amazing feeling to see that 2-3 out there, doing an extensive warm-up and the million high-knees he does before practice,” left tackle Trent Williams said.”I was energized. It was a very short practice, so you know, we only had one team period, but I was energized. I’m super happy that it turned a corner, and he’s able to go out and do what he loves again.”

San Francisco has 21-days to activate McCaffrey to the 53-man roster.
