With the offseason here Baseball America did not waste any time updating their top 10, along with their best tools in the organization.
You will need a subscription to view the top 10, but it’s no surprise that Drake Baldwin finds himself at the top of the list. With the recent news that the 2025 option for Travis D’Arnaud will not be picked up there is a real path to the majors for Drake, who was spectacular for the Braves in 2024. The catcher found his way all the way to Triple-A Gwinnett where he played in 72 games and hit .298/.407/.484 while playing good defense behind the plate.
Like stated above, Baseball America also updated their top tools in the organization and Drake once again took home best power hitter, best strike-zone discipline, and best defensive catcher.
The top 10 list is interesting on its own as Hurston Waldrep has seen his stock drop, along with JR Ritchie. Garrett Baumann finds himself in their top 10 as well after a very strong 2024 season that saw him making 20 appearances (19 starts) and had a fantastic 3.18 ERA (99 innings), 8.1 K/9, and impressive 2.1 BB/9 rate. As always, they provide their own scouting report, and scouting grades which are worth the subscription alone.
It’s just been a few days since the season officially ended and we are in for a doozy of an offseason as the Atlanta Braves continue to re-tool, and prepare for 2025.
