Dallas Cowboys: Stephen Jones Identifies 4 Players (Besides Micah Parsons) Team Wants on Contract Extensions

Last offseason, the Dallas Cowboys made headlines all offseason as the NFL and fans in all markets watched and waited their contract negotiation process with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott.

When it was all said and done, the Cowboys made Lamb the then-second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL while also extending Prescott on a deal that pays him $60 million a year.

This offseason, with their two biggest offensive stars locked up, Dallas now has the attention of the NFL world as they negotiate an extension with defensive superstar Micah Parsons.

But while the Cowboys are working on getting a deal down with the four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher, they are also hoping to lock up four other players on their roster.

Even with the massive contracts handed out to Lamb and Prescott, the Cowboys are still in a pretty good spot in terms of the NFL salary cap.

With free agency all but over for the bigger names on the market, Dallas has $35 million available in cap space for the 2025 NFL season. Of course, a portion of this will go to their draft class and practice squad, but they still have the room.

And next year, again even with those extensions for their two offensive stars, the Cowboys currently have $75 million in cap space. Of course, this figure will go down once they sign more players, but it is still significant.

And with so much space available in the near future, executive vice president Stephen Jones wants some of his other players locked up.

Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, these four players are tight end Jake Ferguson, kicker Brandon Aubrey, left guard Tyler Smith, and cornerback DaRon Bland.

Machota reports that of these players, Jones said that they “really good players that we want to keep around. There are scenarios where we sit down, have a visit with them. You got to have two sides to get a negotiation done. We certainly look at that with those guys.”

It is certainly easy to see why Jones would want all four of those players on the Cowboys roster.

Despite the team’s down year in 2024, all four players have made at least one Pro Bowl in their short careers.
