UPDATE!! Baltimore Orioles Projected to Pull Off Stunning Trade for $13.75 Million Star

The 2025 MLB season is about to get underway and the Baltimore Orioles are going to be intriguing to keep an eye on.

After putting together an impressive season in 2024 and finishing the year with a 91-71 record, the Orioles were swept out of the playoffs by the Kansas City Royals.

Throughout the offseason, Baltimore suffered two major losses. Both starting pitcher Corbin Burns and outfielder Anthony Santander left town in free agency to sign elsewhere.

Those two losses have left potential holes for the Orioles.

Losing Burns, in particular, will be tough to recover from. The rotation is currently projected to include Zach Eflin, Grayson Rodriguez, Charlie Morton, Dean Kremer, and Tomoyuki Sugano.

Ideally, Baltimore will be able to pull off a move during the season to improve the rotation.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic has made a prediction that Orioles fans will love. He has projected Baltimore to pull off a trade with the San Diego Padres for ace pitcher Dylan Cease. In exchange, he has the Orioles sending back first baseman Coby Mayo and left-handed pitcher Cade Povich.

“The Padres trade Dylan Cease to the Orioles for first baseman Coby Mayo and lefty Cade Povich,” Bowden wrote.

Adding Cease would give Baltimore the legitimate No. 1 pitcher that they need with Burnes no longer in town. During the 2024 MLB season with the Padres, Cease made 33 starts.

He compiled a 14-11 record to go along with a 3.47 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, a 3.4 K/BB ratio, and 189.1 innings pitched.
