Juan Soto Sends Clear Message on Aaron Judge After Yankees Breakup

New York Mets superstar Juan Soto hasn’t spoken much about his one-year stint with the crosstown Yankees. Although Soto had another stellar season and reached his second career World Series, he opted not to stay in the Bronx. Instead, Soto inked a record-setting 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets in December.

Soto finally tried clearing the air Monday, making it clear he has no issues with Judge or anyone affiliated with the Yankees-and that includes their fans. “I can’t complain about Yankees fans,” Soto told NBC. “They were amazing day in and day out, the whole season last year. But things happen.”

Soto also shared his respect for Judge, the Yankees’ captain and two-time AL MVP.

“I loved to watch Judge last year; he was incredible,” Soto added. “And the way he handled himself, that’s my favorite hitter so far.” However, the Mets made Soto an offer he couldn’t refuse come free agency. Soto’s contract includes a free luxury suite at home games and security for him and his family at games.

That doesn’t mean Yankees fans take Soto’s departure lightly. The George M. Steinbrenner Field crowd booed their former All-Star outfielder during Monday’s game. “I told him he looked terrible in that uniform,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone joked, according to the New York Post.

Although New York stands divided, Soto is focused on validating his contract and bringing a title to Queens. “They gave me this for who I am, so I am going to keep being who I am,” Soto said.
