Cooper, 34, was an All-Star in 2022 and has seen time as both an outfielder and first baseman during his eight-year career. If he stays in the Braves organization, he would provide the team with an experienced first baseman who could replace Matt Olson should he miss time during the season.
Capel, 27, has seen big league action as an outfielder in each of the last three seasons for three different organizations. He will likely head to Gwinnett and offer the organization depth in either of the outfield corners.
After this evening’s announcement, the Braves now have 37 players left in their big league camp.
