UPDATE: Cowboys’ Rumored Interest in Ashton Jeanty Draws Cold Reality Check

The Dallas Cowboys have a long-term need at the running back position.

Jerry Jones went out and signed both Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders this offseason, but neither of those players have long-term superstar potential.

Ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, the Cowboys have been heavily connected as a potential suitor for Boise State running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Ashton Jeanty.

Despite all of the rumored interest, will Dallas actually make the move to bring him in? Currently, the Cowboys are projected to make their first pick at No. 12 overall and there is a chance that Jeanty will be available at that pick.

While the connections have been frequent, one reporter covering the team is not sold that Dallas will actually take Jeanty even if he is available.

Marcus Mosher of Locked On Cowboys recently made it clear that he’s not sure the Cowboys would take Jeanty.

He revealed more of what Dallas thinks about the upcoming draft class. “I’m honestly not sure on Jeanty,” Mosher wrote on X. “They love the RB depth in this class and feel confident they can get a high-end starter on Day 2.” I’m honestly not sure on Jeanty.

He carried the football 374 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns. Those numbers average out to an impressive 7.0 yards per carry. In addition to his numbers on the ground, Jeanty also caught 23 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.

He was not just a one-year wonder, as he picked up 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground in 2023 while catching 43 passes for 569 yards and five touchdowns.

If he’s available at No. 12, it will be interesting to see what the Cowboys choose to do.
