Yankees Predicted To Reunite With $40 Million Veteran As Giancarlo Stanton Fill-In Read more at:

The New York Yankees recently lost their ace, Gerrit Cole, to a season-ending elbow surgery. Now, the Bronx Bombers could also lose their designated hitter, Giancarlo Stanton, to a season-ending elbow injury. Stanton has been battling an injury for a while now, and the timetable for his return is still unknown. With that in mind, the Yankees could look into adding another bat as the season draws closer.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently made the bold prediction that the Bronx Bombers could reunite with Anthony Rizzo as a replacement for Stanton while the slugger is on the shelf. “There’s been little action on the 35-year-old Rizzo throughout the offseason, yet he was adamant last month about wanting to continue his career,” Rymer wrote. “Though he hasn’t been the same player since suffering a concussion in 2023, the three-time All-Star may find a fit with a team in need of a left-handed bat at first base or designated hitter. Bold Prediction: Rizzo returns to the New York Yankees to help spell Giancarlo Stanton.”

Rizzo has been adamant about wanting to continue his playing career, and the Yankees could likely land him on a team-friendly contract. But would it make sense? The answer here is maybe. Adding another first baseman beside Paul Goldschmidt would allow the Yankees to platoon at first base while leaving the designated hitter slot open for either a first baseman to take or a position player who needs a day off from the field.

It could be a good move for the Yankees to pursue if Stanton’s elbow gets any worse.
