It’s been years since Kayla Nicole and Travis Kelce have been together but she’s had a tough time moving on because of something beyond her control.

Breakups aren’t easy for anyone. But imagine going through the split with the world watching and then your ex moves on with one of the most famous women on the planet. Kayla Nicole knows exactly what that feels like.
Nowadays when most people hear Nicole’s name, they automatically think of Travis Kelce. Whether that’s fair or not, she’s attached to him because they dated for six years and she was the Kansas City Chiefs star’s last girlfriend before Taylor Swift. That fact is why Nicole’s life hasn’t been the same since Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship.
Here’s what’s changed for Nicole that makes it next to impossible for her to move on completely.
The reason Nicole hasn’t been able to just move on after Kelce
When her relationship with Kelce ended, Nicole just tried to get on with her life. She focused on her career as a sports reporter and social media influencer. But when Kelce and Swift’s romance started to blossom, things changed and Nicole was bombarded with online hate which is something that has continued to this day.
Trolls attacked her in February and labeled her as bitter when she rooted for the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. But how many people really root for their ex’s team to win it all after they break up?
Anytime she posts anything though, no matter what it’s about, people constantly bring up Kelce and start flooding her posts with negative comments.
For example, she shared a sexy snap of herself on a yacht in Miami on March 10. Many of the commenters called her pics nothing but “thirst traps” and one person said, “Surprised you didn’t bring up Travis.” Another person wrote: “Worked as a bartender in my early 20s in KC. Can confirm, this chick sucks. Big time. Became famous from dating Kelce and immediately thought she was somebody.”
In February 2025, Nicole was crowned one of the winners of the Season 5 reality TV competition Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
When speaking about how she prepared for some of the grueling challenges she had to endure, Nicole confessed: “I’ve just gone through a public breakup and dealing with trolls or just hate online was difficult for me. I’ve prevailed and I’ve pushed through. But, I took a hit to my confidence.
“Dealing with hate online was difficult for me. You’re kind of left to fend for yourself, but now I kind of feel like I’ve made it through this little storm, and I came out on my two feet, and I know now that I have some tough, thick skin.”
Nicole has previously spoken out about some of the cyberbullying she gets from Swifties
Nicole has opened up in the past about the cyberbullying she’s had to deal with from some Swifties ever since Kelce started dating the pop star.
During a guest appearance on Angel Reese’s podcast Unapologetically Angel in 2024, she explained how being cyberbullied continuously by some of Swift’s fans has made her feel.
“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos didn’t impact me, even to this day,” Nicole admitted. “You could go to my most recent posts and people would be debating why I am worthless.
“I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people. It’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”
Nicole also shared that the “Anti-Hero” singer is the reason she no longer talks to Kelce or any of the women married to Chiefs players, including Brittany Mahomes even though she served as a bridesmaid in her and Patrick’s wedding, saying: “We don’t talk anymore … and that’s not really my choice.”
