UPDATE: Jurickson Profar (bone bruise) expected to be ready for Opening Day for Braves

Jurickson Profar has bone bruise on left wrist

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar will be ready for opening day despite suffering a bone bruise in his left wrist, according to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

Jurickson Profar was removed from Saturday’s Grapefruit League game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after he appeared to land awkwardly on his left wrist while attempting a diving catch. He quickly removed his glove and began rolling in left field, appearing in immediate pain.

Initial x-rays were negative.

Bowman said Profar flew to Atlanta for more testing and a CT scan revealed the bone bruise.

The expectation is that Profar will be ready for opening day March 27 against the San Diego Padres.

The Braves signed Profar to a three-year, $42 million contract in January to form one of the league’s most prolific outfield trios in Profar, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II. The 32-year-old recorded 24 home runs, 85 RBIs and a .839 OPS over 158 games with San Diego in 2024.

Thus far in spring training, Profar recorded two hits in 12 at-bats.
