Braves News: Injury updates on Jurickson Profar, Reynaldo Lopez, walk-off, more

Jurickson Profar hurt himself to some degree in a walk-off spring victory, but Reynaldo Lopez seems healthy. It is positive that Profar’s initial x-rays came up negative, but we aren’t in the clear yet. It’s pretty extraordinary that the Braves got their starting catcher out to likely start the season with a pitch to the ribs and now potentially their starting left fielder injured diving for a ball in the outfield (maybe don’t dive in Spring Training). Hopefully this isn’t an omen of similar injury luck as the franchise had last season.

Jurickson Profar exited Saturday’s game early after injuring his wrist diving for a ball in the outfield. Initial x-rays came back negative, but we will wait on an MRI for the final diagnosis.

Reynaldo Lopez says he feels healthy, despite displaying a dip in velocity during his start Friday.

The pitching staff got BABIP’d quite a bit early, but a rally from the prospects and organizational depth walked it off for Atlanta in the ninth inning.

Giancarlo Stanton has severe injuries to both of his elbows and could potentially need season ending surgery.

Brayan Bello seems unlikely to be ready to pitch Opening Day for the Red Sox, as he has dealt with shoulder soreness.

Former Astros’ starter Jose Urquidy signed a one year deal worth $1 million with the Tigers, with a $4 million club option on the back.
