Mahomes Family Reveals Serious Decision to Protect Baby

The Kansas City Chiefs might be the most hated team in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes has been to the Conference Championship Round in every season as a starter. He’s been to five Super Bowls, winning three, breaking fans’ hearts along the way. Whether it be the monotony of the Chiefs’ success, the “lucky breaks” they’ve found, or the rivalries they’ve forged, they are the villain.

That has consequences, particularly for the closest members of the Kansas City faithful. This could manifest itself in several ways. For example, Brittany Mahomes revealed the big decision regarding the newest Chiefs fan, Sterling Mahomes. “Today was Sterling’s actual due date, sure glad she came a few days early,” Brittany wrote on Feb. 24. “We will share photos of her when we [feel] the time is right,” Brittany continued on her Story. “I know the Internet will instantly take the photos of her and share everywhere so just preparing myself for my newborn baby girl to be shared to the world! Right now we are just soaking in every minute with her.”

On such a big stage, privacy gets sacrificed. When your family members embarrass themselves, or get into trouble, or have a new addition, generally it stays, well, family business. When you’re related to the best quarterback on the planet – and the most hated (active) quarterback on the planet – everything is public. That lends itself to criticism, and unnecessary stress, and the whims of the public – a public that sometimes consists of weird, bad people. The Mahomes children will always have a spotlight on them, and just about every member of the family has had to deal with that in some capacity. That isn’t going away anytime soon. Why subject her newborn to that earlier than she has to?

Other members of the Chiefs family can sympathize with this experience. Tight end Travis Kelce’s partner, Taylor Swift, might be the most famous musician on the planet. She was met with a chorus of boos at the Super Bowl as she spent the season rooting for the league’s “bad guys,” picking up countless haters along the way. Brittany is public in many aspects of her life, from an active social media to Sports Illustrated shoots. But that doesn’t deny her the right to be more private when it suits her or her family.
