San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has made a habit of drawing attention to himself via social media in recent years.
His most recent cryptic post had many puzzled, but former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick tried to translate:
Two more possibilities for nun tucked
a) all the jewelry is out in the open and nothing is hiding
b) auto-corrected from nunchucks so he is not to be messed with because he is wielding nunchucks
— Ryan Fitzpatrick (@FitzMagic_14) March 5, 2025
If you cannot access the above posts, a screenshot of a picture Aiyuk posted on Instagram shows the caption he included with the photo, which reads: “If yeen worth a hunnit or better than [expletive] in another city im icy Ian got nun tucked #PS.”
That’s either from Shakespeare or a direct quote from the movie Pootie Tang, but I cannot recall for sure.
Thankfully, Fitzpatrick did his best to translate Aiyuk’s gibberish in a funny way. In short, it really just seems like a ploy by Aiyuk to draw attention to himself much the same way he did last offseason during the whole saga about trying to get a contract extension while also requesting a trade from San Francisco.
Is Brandon Aiyuk trying to force 49ers to trade him again?
Trade rumors surrounding Aiyuk have reared their ugly head yet again this offseason. In light of the 49ers moving on from veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel by trading him to the Washington Commanders, some think the Niners may opt for a wholesale remodel of their wide receiving corps.
Of course, trading Aiyuk would be complicated by the fact he is currently injured and is owed a lot of money over the next several seasons, but it is clear the 49ers are taking a hardline stance on contracts this offseason and clearly did not appreciate the drama surrounding Aiyuk’s extension last year. His drop in production before getting injured only made San Francisco regret the deal even more, in all likelihood.
When general manager John Lynch was asked about potentially trading Aiyuk at the NFL Scouting Combine, he certainly did not shoot down that notion. Instead, he gave a lengthy answer about how the 49ers cannot keep spending the way they have in recent seasons, which seems like a directive from the top of the organization.
We will have to see how things play out, but after the Samuel trade and rumors flying everywhere about the team being reluctant to spend big, an Aiyuk trade would not be a huge surprise. If it does come to pass, we can only assume we will get more cryptic and indecipherable social media posts from Aiyuk.
Let’s hope Fitzpatrick is there to try and translate them going forward.
