Braves catcher Sean Murphy suffers fractured rib, out for the rest of spring training

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy has sustained a fractured left rib.

The Atlanta Braves are in the middle of spring training right now. They played the Miami Marlins on Friday, marking the second of 10 Braves games broadcast live on Gray this spring.

Atlanta News First Sports Director Baillie Burmaster confirmed the injury Monday morning.

Murphy is expected to be sidelined for at least the rest of the month.

The Oakland Athletics traded Murphy to the Braves back in December 2023. He spent the first two months of the 2024 season on the injured list with an oblique strain.

In Atlanta, fans can watch the Braves on Gray by tuning into PeachtreeTV, Atlanta’s CW Network. Fans can also watch games on YouTube TV, over the air on channel 17.1 and on channel 17 on Dish Network and DirecTV and channel 7 on Xfinity and Spectrum.
