General manager Brian Cashman’s efforts to improve the New York Yankees roster are ongoing, but as of now, it comes with significant limitations.
According to The New York Post’s Joel Sherman, the Yankees are in the market for an outfielder who bats right-handed — apparently, on the cheap.
“I believe they are out at least looking for right-hand-hitting outfielder,” Sherman said Tuesday on The Show podcast with Jon Heyman. “I know they had some interest in Adam Duvall but they don’t even want to give a major-league contract to Adam Duvall. So they really are into penny-pinching right now.”

Heyman wrote Monday that “word is” that Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner is done spending, with what Steinbrenner described as a payroll that’s around $307 or $308 million.
So that means that the Yankees won’t be getting outside help in several spots — not only will not only have to settle on the winner of the battle between Oswaldo Cabrera, DJ LaMahieu and Oswald Peraza for third base but potentially have to look internally if designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton remains sidelined and away from the team.
