Brian Snitker Evaluates Braves Pitching, Grant Holmes’ Role in Spring Training

Braves manager Brian Snitker evaluates key pitching performances in spring training, including Grant Holmes’ bullpen battle and the team’s focus on player development.

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker addressed the media following Sunday’s spring training game, offering insight into key player, including Grant Holmes and other pitchers competing for roster spots.

Holmes’ Spring Training Performance Under the Microscope

Holmes, who is fighting for a bullpen role, has posted a 4.50 ERA over 2.0 innings with one strikeout and a 1.00 WHIP so far this spring. Snitker acknowledged that while Holmes has faced some challenges, his overall approach and execution have been promising.

“Spring training is about getting guys comfortable and in a rhythm,” Snitker said. “Holmes has good stuff, and we’re going to keep watching how he settles in over the next few outings.”

Braves Emphasizing Player Development

Beyond Holmes, Snitker spoke about the importance of giving pitchers opportunities to shake off rust and build confidence. Ian Anderson, who has struggled with consistency, is working to find his form, while Hurston Waldrep and Bryce Elder continue to make their case for rotation or bullpen spots.

“This time of year is about development as much as competition,” Snitker added. “We’re looking at how guys handle different situations and make adjustments.”

What’s Next for Holmes and the Braves’ Bullpen Battle?

With spring training ramping up, Holmes will have more opportunities to prove himself as the Braves evaluate their bullpen options. If he can refine his command and limit mistakes, he could earn a valuable relief role for Opening Day.

For now, Snitker remains focused on the bigger picture—preparing the Braves for another deep postseason run by ensuring every player is ready when the regular season begins.
