The man who quit on the San Francisco 49ers mid-game has finally responded to fans in a series of social media posts, swearing that he “ain’t addressing s—t” about why he quit.
It’s been more than two months since De’Vondre Campbell left the 49ers in the third quarter of a key divisional matchup against the Rams. The linebacker has mostly stayed silent on social media since then, only putting up two posts on X and a couple on his Instagram Story before Friday.
On Friday, though, Campbell put up another post, sharing a clip from a previous season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” while complimenting former Falcons coach Keith Armstrong. Campbell said he was “glad I came into the NFL when I did when all that soft babying players s—t didn’t exist.”
That comment was met with several quick replies about Campbell’s departure from the Niners, leading Campbell to finally lash out. In a five-post, expletive-filled tirade where he frequently used a slur to refer to people, TV personalities and former 49ers teammates, Campbell said he was “sick” of people replying to his posts mentioning the 49ers incident and made yet another thinly veiled threat.
“It’s been 2 months and I have yet to address the situation cause I know the truth and don’t care to clear anything up,” Campbell wrote. “I’m by myself ALL the time if you or any of them bitch ass [people] from the 49ers feel some type of way go wit ya move when you see me cause all them [people] that had so much to say about me gone have to stand on them words next time I see them.”
Campbell added, “That goes for all them old ass retired [people] that jumped on TV speaking on my name when they could’ve reached out to me and heard it from the horses mouth but they just took what the 49ers said and ran with it.”
When a 49ers content creator replied that Campbell “can’t address the situation cause you can’t defend yourself,” Campbell quoted the post and invoked 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch by name.
“I ain’t addressing s—t,” Campbell wrote. “I’m rich and never have to work another day of my life and I told Kyle Shannahan and John Lynch that when they FaceTime me and begged me to come out there an hour after Green Bay cut me.”
Campbell finished off the tirade with a final post, writing, “They get mad when they can’t successfully troll you” before using four crying-laughing emoji. “… You can’t get under my skin my life is great.”
After four posts of lashing out and specifically saying he’s sick of the commenters, it’s hard to believe Campbell isn’t having at least some sub-skin feelings. By the way, he still has yet to explain what, exactly, was his reason for quitting on the 49ers.
