Breaking News: Stephen A Smith calls Dak Prescott delusional for Eagles comparison

Amid the growing scrutiny of Cowboys, Stephen A. Smith wondered if Dak Prescott was delusional in saying his team is very close to Super Bowl.

Is Dak Prescott delusional? Well, Stephen A. Smith is convinced he is.

The ESPN analyst was apparently blown away by the Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s over-the-top optimism for his team, questioning whether it’s displaying confidence or is truly out of touch with the Cowboys’ current reality.

The Cowboys not only finished the 2024 season at 7-10 but also fired head coach Mike McCarthy and promoted Brian Schottenheimer to the head coach position, which was followed by even more criticism.

If that wasn’t enough, the franchise has also not made any move to acquire the available star Myles Garrett, who is arguably considered the missing piece to ending Dallas’ three-decade-long Super Bowl drought.

Amid all this, when the ESPN analyst heard Prescott assert that his team is on the cusp of their own championship run, he couldn’t help but wonder if the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history was “delusional”?

This is Dak Prescott, when has he not been delusional? I mean, we’ve seen evidence of this time and time again from this guy.

Dak Prescott has been in the league for 10 years and ain’t been to an NFC Championship game. But he talking. You’d think you wouldn’t be so tone deaf, have the decency to recognize your position and say ‘I might need to shut the hell up.’

Stephen A. Smith said on First Take

Since the postseason elimination of the 2023 season, the Cowboys’ struggle continued in the 2024 regular season.

Things became even more distressing when the star quarterback Prescott, who was considered the only glimmer of hope for the team, sustained a season-ending hamstring injury.

Dak Prescott Cowboys’ path to Super Bowl blocked by Eagles, rising Commanders and possibly Giants

Things have certainly become more challenging for Dallas since their divisional rivals defeated the two-time Super Bowl defending champions to win the franchise’s second Super Bowl trophy.

On top of that, another divisional rival Washington Commanders emerged as true contenders with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was rewarded with the Offensive Rookie of the Year honor for his stellar season.

The fact of the matter is that right now, the reigning, defending Super Bowl champions are in the NFC East, Philadelphia Eagles.

We have a situation where Dak Prescott is entering his tenth year and a guy that was drafted in the second round has been to two Super Bowls and won one now. And a rookie has been to an NFC Championship game in his first year.

Stephen A. Smith added

What’s even more interesting or rather posing another bad news for the Cowboys, their third divisional rival is likely to land the top quarterback of the 2025 Class Shedeur Sanders in the upcoming draft, which means the Cowboys may end up dropping to the bottom of the NFC East if they continued walking this part.
