Braves News: Jorge Soler traded, Charlie Morton’s future, and more

The offseason officially got underway on Thursday, and Alex Anthopoulos wasted no time in making moves. The Atlanta Braves announced that they have traded OF/DH Jorge Soler to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-hander Griffin Canning.

Soler re-joined the Braves in late July after a stint with the San Francisco Giants. He logged 49 games with the Braves with a .243 average and nine home runs.

As for Canning, the Braves will be the second team he’s suited up for. In 2024, he logged 32 games with the Halos and posted a 5.19 ERA. He will likely serve as a nice bullpen piece in Atlanta.

More Braves News:

Charlie Morton may not be retiring, after all, per report.

In way-too-early predictions, the Braves are the third favorite to win the 2025 World Series, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
