BREAKING: Atlanta Braves seemingly make subtle, but much needed changes to navy jersey

It was far too bright last season.

Tampa Bay Rays v Atlanta Braves

Amidst all of the controversial Nike changes to MLB uniforms in 2024, the Atlanta Braves uniform changes went somewhat under the radar. In addition to having each of their jerseys altered to conform to a restrictive Nike template, the Braves also unveiled a navy alternate that looked slightly more purple than blue.

When MLB announced that Nike would backpedal some of the changes made to their uniforms in 2025 and beyond, there wasn’t an answer about whether or not the Braves uniforms would see any changes.

However, with spring training kicking off, the Braves have seemingly made some modifications. Take a look below. The 2024 jerseys are on the left, while the 2025 jerseys are on the right.

Atlanta Braves make minor, but welcome changes to 2025 uniforms

The 2024 Braves navy jersey mishap was confusing. The club had a history of wearing a darker navy for decades, and even though Nike’s new template had some issues with mismatching greys, it still had the ability to produce darker navy dyes.

For instance, both the Washington Nationals and the Twins had darker navy jerseys that were more in line with what the Braves had worn.

The Braves navy alternate was seldom worn after spring training, only appearing in eight games last season, including their short two-game stint in the playoffs.

However, because of Nike and MLB’s self-imposed “4+1 rule”, which has essentially eliminated spring training uniforms, the navy jerseys have become the de facto jerseys of choice for Braves during the Grapefruit League.

The change to the color is subtle enough, as it has simply been darkened to be about the same shade as Braves jerseys from seasons passed.

In addition to the color adjustment, the Braves, like all MLB teams, will see the return of larger names on the backs of jerseys, which was one of the biggest complaints between fans and players alike.

This will likely not be the last uniform update for the Braves this season. There will be at least one more update on a hat patch that appeared to be leaked in an MLB The Show trailer.
