Cowboys could make blockbuster trade for $40 million 5-time Pro Bowler | Sporting News

The Dallas Cowboys will need to be aggressive this offseason to get back to the playoffs. The team could bring a new superstar to their defense.

While listing landing spots for Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa, FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox named the Cowboys. Bosa is in the final year of his contract and could be a trade candidate.

“Because Bosa has had injury problems, not been as destructive and is toward the end of his career, he should be a cheap addition if the Chargers don’t focus on trading him,” wrote Wilcox.

Wilcox noted that a Bosa trade would make the most sense if the Cowboys lose DeMarcus Lawrence and trade Micah Parsons. Parsons being traded is unlikely, but according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys have had “internal discussions” about trading him.

“While there have been no trade talks, sources say there have at least been some internal discussions about whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a king’s ransom,” wrote Pelissero. “If the Cowboys are willing to listen, they may get it. Cowboys COO Stephen Jones told NFL.com in December that the team will study the wisdom of having so much money invested in so few players, but added: ‘I can’t imagine there’s a scenario where he’s not wearing a star on his helmet.'”

Bosa is a five-time Pro Bowler. He signed a two-year, $40 million extension in 2024 and could be looking to walk next offseason. If The Chargers are going to move on, they would be wise to deal him for a return.
