Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott discussed the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl victory and said that he believes America’s Team can compete at that level next season.
Prescott spoke with the media during an event for the upcoming Children’s Cancer Fund gala and said the Cowboys have a history of competing with this exact Eagles team in recent years.
“I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and beat them for the most part when we’ve played them,” he said, according to ESPN.
“I don’t want to say, ‘Check the record,’ when the other guy is holding the trophy, right? So credit to them. They’ve earned it, and they deserve it by all means. But, yeah, [we’re] very close.”
The Cowboys’ quarterback further stated that he is excited to compete against Philadelphia and the Washington Commanders next season after watching them play in the NFC Championship game.
“Especially even watching the NFC championship and those two teams — teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times. As I said, [I] feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part each and every time. But just seeing such a dominating fashion [in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs], credit to them. It’s our turn, and it’s on us,” he added, per ESPN.
The biggest step for the Cowboys competing at the highest level is for Prescott to return to full health following a torn hamstring during the 2024 season.
Prescott said he is continuing to progress with his rehab and expects to be healthy for the upcoming season, providing optimism that Dallas will once again be a dominant team during the regular season.
“My health is good,” Prescott said, as reported by The Athletic.
“I’m doing a lot more. I’m getting there. I’m really looking to amp it up here. I got all my confidence. We’ll be fine.”
The next most important aspect of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl hopes relies on some roster reconstruction, as Dallas will likely have to add multiple impactful players during the offseason to be a real contender.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the Cowboys must follow in the Eagles’ footsteps and continue building around the trenches to become serious Super Bowl contenders in the 2025 season.
Dallas ranked amongst the worst in the NFL at both rushing the ball and stopping opposing teams’ runs, two categories in which Philadelphia ranked near the top.
Figuring out these points of attack, specifically focusing on adding defensive linemen and a running back, will help Dallas compete against the best teams in the league next year.
