Red Sox Fans Should Be Encouraged By Juan Soto’s Free Agency Comments

The World Series ended Wednesday, which means the offseason clock began for the Red Sox and all other major league clubs.

Boston has to make decisions on internal free agents like Tyler O’Neill, and it also must decide on how to proceed with its top prospects. However, the most crucial thing for Craig Breslow and his staff will be free agency.

The top prize of the upcoming free agent class will be Juan Soto. The New York Yankees outfielder was one of Aaron Boone’s top players in the postseason, and at 26 years old, he’s set to make life-changing money. While processing his team’s World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Soto addressed his upcoming free agency.

“I don’t know what’s the teams that are going to come after me,” Soto told reporters, per SNY. “Definitely, I’ll be open to this and every single team. I don’t have any doors closed. I’m gonna be available for all 30 teams.”

It’ll be an arms race to secure one of the best young stars in MLB. Boston also needs to improve its pitching staff, but it’ll be tough to ignore Soto as the four-time All-Star weighs his options.
