Cowboys predicted to sign $27 million Pro Bowler to ‘compliment’ Dak Prescott | Sporting News

The Dallas Cowboys neglected their need for a running back last offseason. The team could target a running back in the draft or spend to land an established rusher in free agency.

Najee Harris is going to hit the open market and Spotrac projects him to sign a three-year, $27 million deal in free agency. Harris has made the Pro Bowler once in his young career and has surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in each of his first four seasons. YardBarker’s Seth Trachtman predicted the Cowboys would sign Harris this offseason.

“Dallas clearly made a mistake when they didn’t address running back adequately in the offseason,” wrote Trachtman. “Harris is the type of power runner that the team has coveted in the past, and could be a great fit to complement a now less mobile Dak Prescott.”

Harris has found success as a rusher with the Pittsburgh Steelers despite being the only threat to defenses for the majority of his tenure. The Steelers’ lack of consistency at the quarterback position has allowed defenses to key in on stopping Harris. With the Cowboys, he would be a compliment to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys’ potent passing attack when healthy should create better opportunities for Harris than he saw in Pittsburgh. Additionally, Harris can be a factor as a pass catcher. He has over 1,000 career receiving yards and has six touchdowns through the air as well. He has 180 catches in four seasons with the Steelers.
