The Milwaukee Brewers have a few players with either team or mutual options this off-season that need deciding.
Wade Miley, Frankie Montas, and Gary Sanchez all have mutual options whereas Freddy Peralta, Devin Williams, Colin Rea, and Eric Haase all have club options. Of this group Milwaukee was quick to announce that they have declined their half of Wade Miley’s mutual option.
The Milwaukee Brewers declined their half of Wade Miley’s mutual option for the 2025 season
37 year old Wade Miley underwent Tommy John surgery halfway through the 2024 season.
At minimum he is expected to miss half of the 2025 season and because of his age there is a fair amount of concern regarding his ability to return to the big leagues. Complicating this picture further now is the fact that he is unemployed and may not have all the resources he previously had access to early on during his rehab.
Wade Miley had success in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform
Across three seasons with the Brewers (2018, 2023, and 2024), Wade Miley made 41 starts, posted a 3.03 ERA, and covered just over 200 innings. He gave Milwaukee a much needed boost during the second half of the 2018 season, he was steady presence throughout all of 2023, and as mentioned his 2024 season got cut short due to electing Tommy John surgery.
Whether it is in a Brewers uniform or not hopefully Wade Miley is able to make a full recovery and pitch in the big leagues again next year.
Relief pitching is quite the roller-coaster ride, and Jose Leclerc’s journey with the Texas Rangers is no exception. The man has been a familiar sight in the Rangers’ bullpen since bursting onto the scene in 2016.
