The Chicago Cubs 2024 campaign didn’t go as planned. Jed Hoyer was on the hot seat and did what he had to do to improve his roster, but if the Cubs have another down year, changes have to be made.
In fact, there weren’t many bright spots, and that’s more concerning than anything else. Outside of Shota Imanaga and Michael Busch, there really wasn’t anything to be happy about for Chicago.
But for Busch, what he did was very impressive. He had a rookie season to remember, and if the big slugger continues to improve, the Cubs might have a future All-Star on their hands.
According to Patrick Mooney of The Athletic, Chicago has lofty expectations for the youngster, and they’re more than fair.
“The Cubs see him as a potential Gold Glove first baseman who will improve upon a strong rookie season (21 homers, 65 RBIs, .775 OPS),” Mooney wrote.
Busch becoming a Gold Glove winner and improving even further offensively would make him one of the top first basemen in Major League Baseball.
If his first full season in the big leagues showed anything, he can’t be counted out.
He has all the talent in the world to be amongst the elite of the elite, and the Cubs expect that out of him moving forward.
