Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas is currently in his second term as the city’s top official. Even before being elected as K.C.’s mayor for the first time in 2019, the Washington University alumni served on the city council for four years. At this point, Lucas has already gained a lot of political experience under his belt. However, the mayor is anticipating an even bigger responsibility in the not-so-distant future.
According to Lucas, he’s very much looking forward to playing a major role in the potential wedding of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and multi-Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. “I am excited to officiate the wedding,” Lucas joked during Friday’s episode of “CNN News Central,” via Us Weekly. “That would be the biggest job I could ever have. Forget before the mayor. You’re the officiant for Travis and Taylor. It would be a bigger wedding than Princess Diana and Prince Charles. It would be huge.”
To be clear, there is currently no substantial report indicating that Kelce and Swift are going to tie the knot. Both are reportedly open to the prospect of marriage, but at the same time, they aren’t rushing anything. Before a potential wedding, Kelce will need to propose first, and there has been a strong buzz about the All-Pro tight end potentially popping the big question on Sunday at Super Bowl LIX.
Lucas was also asked about Kelce’s potential proposal after the big game, but the mayor admitted that he had no knowledge on the matter whatsoever. “I have no special intel other than the fact that after the AFC Championship Game here in Kansas City, I was on the field and standing around,” Lucas said. “Then, a swarm of a hundred press [and] Travis and Taylor come by. I get bowled out of the way.
“I know they are a huge story after the game. During the game, I think we’ll get some good attention and a good W this week.” Much like the rest of Kansas City, Lucas is looking forward to Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown. Apart from a potential milestone moment in the Swift-Kelce romance, Lucas is also anticipating a historic feat for the Chiefs if they are able to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles en route to an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.
