Kilgore’s Hampton joins 2 East Texans on Yankees’ Spring Training roster

TAMPA, Fla. (KLTV) – Former Kilgore Bulldog and MLB pitching prospect Chase Hampton will be pitching for the New York Yankees during Spring Training this year.

Hampton is a part of the Yankees Spring Training roster, along with two other East Texans.

Duke Ellis, a speedy outfielder from Central Heights, saw some playing time in the big leagues in 2024 and has also received a non-roster invite.

Colten Brewer, a pitcher from Canton who saw time with the Chicago Cubs in 2024 before breaking his hand, also has a non-roster invitation. Brewer signed a minor league deal with the Yankees during the offseason.

Hampton is one of the top prospects in baseball, but was injured for much of 2024.

Pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Feb. 12.
