Rumored Red Sox Target Now Off Market After Re-Signing With NL Team Read more at:

If the Boston Red Sox are to succeed in their quest to add a quality right-handed bat, they won’t do so by signing Randal Grichuk. On Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks officially announced the re-signing of Grichuk to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $2 million in 2025 with a $5 million mutual option for 2026, according to MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand. Grichuk had been connected to the Red Sox, who’ve been open about their desire to balance their lefty-heavy lineup. The 33-year-old hit .291 with 12 homers and an .875 OPS in 106 games last season for Arizona.

The Red Sox still could make a significant addition before the start of the season, something franchise CEO Sam Kennedy teased last weekend. Boston reportedly has remained in contact with the St. Louis Cardinals about a possible trade involving star third baseman Nolan Arenado. Free agent infielder Alex Bregman also is a potential target. Red Sox pitchers and catchers will report to spring training on Feb. 11. Boston’s first full-squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 17.
