Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow Made Some Major Adjustments This Offseason in Hopes of Staying Healthy

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow put on a strong performance in 2024, but the year ultimately ended in an unfortunate injury saga for the ace.

The right-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 16. The move appeared to be a precaution by the Dodgers, given Glasnow was their ace and they wanted him to be healthy for the postseason. But as time ran out for Glasnow to return for the postseason, it was evident that his elbow tendinitis had unfurled into a nightmare for the Dodgers.

Glasnow, 30, produced a 3.49 ERA and a 9-6 record in his first season wearing Dodger blue. He threw a career-high 168 strikeouts across 134 innings. It was exactly the type of performance the Dodgers had hoped for when they traded for him and spent $136.5 million on an extension in December 2023.

Glasnow ultimately missed the playoffs with a sprained elbow and the Dodgers were forced to march through the postseason without their ace. As pitchers and catchers get set to report to Camelback Ranch in a week, the right-hander revealed his main priority for the 2025 season.

“The number one goal this year is just to stay healthy,” Glasnow said at DodgerFest. “I feel as good as I’ve ever felt.

In order to accomplish that goal, Glasnow is implementing a few adjustments. The biggest tweak is how he leverages his 6-foot-8 frame down the mound and where he’s positioned when his front foot plants before he throws a pitch.

“When I land I used to be very extended, spine angle and stuff,” Glasnow said. “So I’ve been working with some people, trying to make some small changes. It’s hard to explain but once I throw I’ll feel you can probably see it.”

As the Dodgers prepare to win the World Series for the second year in a row, Glasnow hopes to make a huge impact in the postseason — something he wasn’t able to do in 2024.
