Braves News: Bullpen projections, Jesse Franklin V released, and more

Happy February! We are just three weeks away from the Atlanta Braves’ first spring matchup of 2025 against the Minnesota Twins. There are still a few questions regarding the roster, but Friday did not come with any answers on that front. For now, we’ve got bullpen projections, the latest release, and more.

Let’s take stock of the current bullpen and project what the club does with it this season.

The Columbus Clingstones, Double-A affiliate of the Braves, released outfielder Jesse Franklin V on January 29, according to his transaction page.

MLB News:

The New York Mets agreed to a one-year split deal with infielder Nick Madrigal. He will make $1.35M in the majors and $500K in the minors. To create a roster spot, the club designated Luis De Los Santos for assignment.

The Kansas City Royals agreed to a two-year, $22.2M deal with right-hander Carlos Estévez. To clear a roster spot, the club designated former Brave Braden Shewmake for assignment.

Designated hitter J.D. Martinez announced that he plans to play in 2025. He will turn 38 in August.

The Milwaukee Brewers and backstop William Contreras avoided arbitration after the two agreed to a one-year, $6.1M deal.

The San Diego Padres and right-hander Michael King agreed to a one-year, $7.75M deal to avoid arbitration.

The Los Angeles Angels lost an arbitration case to outfielder Mickey Moniak, who will make $2M in 2025.
