Dallas Cowboys’ NFL 2025 season schedule: Who will they face next?

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the next NFL season under a new head coach, they are officially trailing behind their NFC East rivals.

With the Washington Commanders finally making the NFC Championship game, the Cowboys now own an unfortunate honor. It’s been 30 years since they’ve made the championship game, the longest drought of any team in the NFC. Meanwhile, the rival Philadelphia Eagles, who beat the Commanders in the conference title game are making their third Super Bowl appearance in the last decade.

The next thing Cowboys fans have to look forward to is the 2025 NFL draft. Dallas, historically, has been a good drafting team that uses free agency for depth or complementary pieces instead of impactful signings.

After firing Mike McCarthy a week after the season ended, Dallas embarked on one of history’s strangest head coaching searches. Owner Jerry Jones didn’t interview top coaching candidates like Lions coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, instead opting for the likes of Deion Sanders, Kellen Moore and Robert Salah, who were not commanding much attention from other teams.

They ended the cycle with an inside hire, picking former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. No other team interviewed Schottenheimer for their head coaching vacancy.

Here’s what games the Cowboys will have to look forward to in the 2025-26 season. The official schedule will come out later in the year.

Who do the Cowboys play in 2025?

In the upcoming season, the Cowboys will play a 17-game schedule based on this year’s finish in the NFC East. Per usual, they have six games against the Eagles, Commanders and New York Giants.

The NFC East’s interconference rival this year is the AFC West, meaning each team in the Cowboys’ division will play the four AFC West teams, including Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The intraconference foe is the NFC North, so the Eagles, Commanders, Giants and Cowboys will play the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.

The remaining three games will be against two NFC teams that finish in third place — the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals — and a third-place AFC team, the New York Jets.
