Pittsburgh Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo is heading to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his NFL career. Seumalo, who is a Pro Bowl alternate after the Kansas City Chiefs headed to the Super Bowl, meaning that guard Trey Smith would pull out, played in 13 games this season for the team.
He missed the first four games of the year with a pectoral injury suffered during a practice before the start of the year. Seumalo signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Steelers in the 2023 offseason, coming over from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Seumalo is 31 years old and was drafted out of Oregon State in 2015, so it was a long time coming for Seumalo. He worked his way up from a backup with the Eagles to a starting guard, and once he entered the lineup, he never gave up that spot.
Now, the Steelers benefit from Seumalo walking to head to free agency, and he has become the veteran leader for a young group that needs that stability.
