BREAKING TRADE: Braves Predicted To Pursue Dodgers $80 Million Star To Replace Max Fried

ack Flaherty is a free agent and unlikely to re-sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers are the favorites to land Japanese ace Roki Sasaki after signing Blake Snell earlier this winter.

That leaves Flaherty looking to sign a massive deal somewhere else.

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly recently predicted the Atlanta Braves would be one of the top teams in the Flaherty sweepstakes after missing out on Max Fried and Charlie Morton in free agency.

“The Braves were B/R’s original prediction for Flaherty when the offseason began, and considering they’ve lost both Morton and Max Fried this winter, Atlanta still makes a ton of sense for the 29-year-old righty,” Kelly wrote. “On paper, the Braves starting rotation could be one of the best in baseball.

“However, Spencer Strider is returning from an internal brace procedure that cost him almost all of the 2024 season and won’t be ready for Opening Day. Meanwhile, Chris Sale and Reynaldo López carry quite a bit of injury risk.”

The Braves need to add Flaherty as much as any team in the league.

Atlanta struggled with pitching depth in 2024 after losing Spencer Strider for the season. Now that the Braves have lost Fried and Morton without replacing them.

Adding a consistent arm like the former Dodgers righty would be a huge addition for Atlanta. He would place himself atop the Braves’ rotation with Chris Sale.

Flaherty and Fried were high school teammates, so signing Flaherty to replace Fried would be a full-circle moment.
