Breaking!! Tyler Glasnow Spoke to Roki Sasaki On the Phone in Attempt to Recruit him to Dodgers

As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to await Roki Sasaki’s decision, one Dodgers star revealed Thursday that he recently tried to recruit him to L.A. over the phone.

Tyler Glasnow, who has the same agent as Sasaki, said he recently called his agent Joel Wolfe, who told Glasnow he was with the 23-year-old pitcher.

Glasnow asked to speak to Sasaki, and then gave him a quick recruiting pitch to come to L.A.

“I talked to him on the phone … it was a pretty quick phone call,” Glasnow said Thursday on Foul Territory TV.

Glasnow mentioned he told Sasaki, “You should come to the Dodgers,” and also discussed a little bit of his recruiting pitch to the Japanese phenom.

“I said to him a thing and was like, I haven’t played for the other two organizations. But if one of your main goals is to become the best pitcher you can possibly be, like development wise and everything, scouting report wise to like all that stuff, I said, ‘This is the place for you.’”

Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers last offseason in a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays. He expressed nothing but excitement to be in Los Angeles, knowing he was with arguably the best organizations in MLB.

“It’s a dream come true,” Glasnow told Dodgers Nation last December about being traded to the Dodgers. “I think the first day is gonna be amazing, even in spring training, putting on the uniform. And then first day at Dodger Stadium is gonna be incredible. I can’t wait for Opening Day.”

He added: “It’s been something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid. It kind of feels surreal in a way, like having all those daydreams as a kid to go play in Dodger Stadium, and then it happened.”

Now, Glasnow is doing his part to recruit Sasaki, the 23-year-old phenom who must make his decision before Jan. 23.

The Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays are the reported finalists in the Sasaki sweepstakes.
