ESPN Taking Heat For ‘Monday Night Football’ Cheerleaders Decision

ESPN is taking some unfortunate heat on social media for its “Monday Night Football” cheerleading spotlight.

The San Francisco 49ers hosted the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football this week. The Lions topped the 49ers, 40-34, to improve to 14-2 on the season. San Francisco, meanwhile, dropped to 6-10, with one game left in the highly disappointing 2024 NFL regular season.

During the game, ESPN’s broadcast chose to spotlight the 49ers cheerleading team, which includes a male member. Jon, a male cheerleader, was highlighted by ESPN during the 49ers vs. Lions game on Monday night.

Many on social media took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post homophobic and sexist remarks about ESPN’s decision to highlight the male cheerleader.

“Just saw a male cheerleader on Monday Night Football. Why am I not surprised ‘it’ cheers for the 49ers?” one fan wrote
