Former White Sox MVP and late Dick Allen finally gets his Hall Call

It was overdue, but the late Dick Allen is a Hall of Famer. His son Richard Jr. got the call, and the former White Sox MVP got his due.

The Chicago Cubs could not see eye-to-eye with the player they made a splash to acquire.

The Cubs and outfielder Kyle Tucker could not come to an agreement on a salary for 2025, according to a report from ESPN’s Jesse Rogers.

Rogers reported the Cubs filed at $15 million, while Tucker wanted $17.5 million.

The Cubs acquired Tucker on Dec. 13 in one of the biggest trades of the MLB offseason so far.

In return for Tucker, the Cubs sent third baseman Isaac Paredes, right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski and third baseman Cam Smith to Houston. Smith was ranked as the No. 73 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

The Tucker trade shook up the Cubs’ roster. It resulted in the Cubs trading Cody Bellinger to the New York Yankees.

Tucker was limited to 78 games due to a small fracture in his right shin in 2024, but had a stat line of .289/.408/.585, He hit 23 home runs and had 56 walks compared to 54 strikeouts. That led Tucker to his third straight MLB All-Star team.

Tucker turns 28 on Jan. 17 and is under Cubs control only through the 2025 season. Tucker will either enter free agency next winter or try to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the Cubs.

It’s very much a possibility that Tucker only plays one season for the Cubs.

“We made this deal kind of understanding that this deal had to be worth it for one year of Kyle Tucker,” Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins said. “We certainly felt like that was the case.”
