After being eliminated from NFL playoff contention a couple of weeks ago, the Dallas Cowboys will play their final game of the 2024 season on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
In Week 17, the Dak Prescott-less Cowboys were handed an ugly 41-7 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ahead of the season finale, the NFL hit five Dallas players with punishments for their actions against the NFC East rival. Defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa received the largest fine of the five players: a $16,883 penalty for “roughing the passer (late hit)” early in the third quarter.
Two Cowboys offensive linemen, right tackle Terence Steele and left guard Tyler Smith, were both hit with a $11,817 fine for “unnecessary roughness” as well.
Steele’s came a little over halfway through the third due to a “low block,” while Smith’s came just before Odighizuwa’s for “striking/kicking/kneeing.” In the final few minutes of the Cowboys vs. Eagles game, a big fight broke out near the tunnel between both teams.
The NFL fined three players involved in the scrum, including two from Dallas and one from Philadelphia.
Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Brooks was hit with a $5,083 fine for his “unnecessary roughness (late hit),” while cornerback Troy Pride was fined $5,198 for the same reason.
Eagles safety Sydney Brown will have to pay $6,981 for an “unnecessary roughness (late hit),” as well.
